"I have found that the benefits of LASIK are immense. The surgery itself was fairly quick and painless. The morning after the surgery, everything seemed bright and clear. It was almost like someone had turned on a light. Everyday I remind myself I don't have to deal with my contact lenses. Along with not being a slave to contacts, I don't have to deal with the cloudy and gritty sensation of contacts, as well as, the irritation and fatigue my eyes felt with the prolonged use. Dear Dr. Hersh:
My experience with you and your staff was so good that I wanted to write this letter which you can share as a testimony for any perspective patient considering Lasik surgery.
For me as a patient there are three main aspects that determine the success of the procedure and experience. First and foremost is obviously the outcome. Second, even though the research I did shows me how technically competent you are, on the day of the surgery I need to feel that same level of confidence if not more. Lastly, the personal connection and one on one discussion which help make me feel that you are working with me as a person and not just another patient.
You have exceeded my expectations in all aspects. With regards to the outcome, the results of my eyesight are now 20/15 with almost no discomfort. With regards to your technical knowledge, it was obvious how knowledgeable you are by the way you can communicate complicated things in a way that the patient can understand. A lot of doctors I have been exposed to answer very technically either to hide their competence or because they don’t want you to ask too many questions. Finally with respect to the personal aspect, during and to my surprise the follow-up after the surgery was truly exceptional. This is rarely accomplished, especially from a Doctor of you level.
The personal interaction with your staff was also refreshing and made the whole process feel like I do it everyday. Your staffs knowledge and explanation of each step of the way eliminated the unknown and therefore almost eliminated any anxiety that would normally occur with this type of procedure.
Since the eyes are one of your five senses it is a very serious decision to have an elective surgery of this type. After extensive research in doctors and pro / cons for this procedure and after my experience with you and your staff I would suggest to anyone that they do not trust their eyes to anyone else regardless of cost. Please feel free to share this letter with your staff and patients. Again, Thank You.
